Cliff Smithers began his radio career with Cumulus Broadcasting in the summer of 1990, but his passion for radio started much earlier.
Growing up, he listened to CKLW out of Windsor/Detroit and was inspired by Brother Bill Gable’s afternoon show. Rushing home from school to hear the broadcast, he knew even as a kid that being on the radio was what he wanted to do. About 10 years later, he got his first opportunity, working part-time at K100. Within a year, he was offered the full-time afternoon show—and 35 years later, he’s still loving every minute behind the microphone.
Outside the studio, he’s a devoted Detroit Tigers fan and an avid golfer. Above all, his greatest joy is his family. With three grown children and seven grandchildren, family time means the most to him. He’s also grateful for the incredible listeners who have tuned in and connected with him over the years. As he often says: they truly are the greatest listeners in the world.
